Dr. Ly and Dr. Ryder

Dr. John T. Ryder is from Austin, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1968. In 1972 he graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry. He served in the United States Army as an optometrist from 1972 to 1994 and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was assigned to army hospitals at the following locations: Fort Belvoir, Virginia; Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Fort Knox, Kentucky; Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Bremerhaven, Germany; and Wuerzburg, Germany. Since 1996 he has practiced in Austin, Texas. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a member of the American Optometric Association, Armed Forces Optometric Society, Texas Optometric Association, and the Central Texas Optometric Society. Dr. Ryder is married and has an adult son. He enjoys traveling and jogging.
Dr. Chris Ly was born in Saigon, Vietnam and came to America with his family in 1980. He lived in Houston, Texas for most of his life and came to the University of Texas at Austin for college. He was in the Plan II program and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in 1998. After UT, he went to the University of Houston College of Optometry and graduated in 2002. He was selected for the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society. He is married and enjoys working in 2 offices in North Austin. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, basketball, and reading.
